Pick and Play Festival FAQ’s

General Information
Q: What is Pick & Play Sport and Activity Festival?
A: A family-friendly festival offering children the chance to try new sports or enjoy familiar activities they already love.

Q: Where and when is the festival taking place?
A: Monday, 26th May 2025 (Bank Holiday), 09:00 - 18:00, Ardingly College, Haywards Heath, RH17 6SQ.

Q: Who can attend the festival?
A: Children aged 5-11 can participate in pre-bookable sports. Younger siblings under 5 are welcome but cannot join the booked activities. Adults and children 12+ are welcome as spectators or supporters.

Tickets & Registration
Q: How do I purchase tickets?
A: Tickets must be purchased in advance online.

Q: What does a child ticket include?
A: Five 45-minute sport or activity sessions.

Q: Can adults participate in activities?
A: Adults can join some activities, but most are designed for children, with adults acting as spectators.

Q: Do I need a ticket for my child under 5?
A: No, children under 5 can enter for free but can’t participate in pre-bookable activities.

Q: Can I buy tickets for more than two adults per child?
A: A maximum of two adults per child is encouraged. Contact us at office@pickandplay.uk for exceptions.

Q: Can I buy tickets on the day?
A: No, tickets must be purchased in advance.

Q: What if I haven’t received my ticket?
A: Check your spam folder, and if still not found, contact us at office@pickandplay.uk.

Q: Why are you charging £1.00 booking fee on packages and adults spectator passes?
A: For every digital ticket we get charged, so we need to cover our costs where possible.

On the Day
Q: What time should I arrive, and how do I register?
A: The car park opens from 08:00, registration is from 09:00 to 09:45 at the main entrance.

Q: Can I drop my children and leave?
A: No, Pick and Play is a family festival, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Q: Can I bring my friends Children?
A: Yes, Please inform the registration desk if you are responsible for additional children on the day.

Q: Will there be food and drinks available?
A: Yes, food vendors will be on-site, but we recommend bringing a packed lunch and drinks for children with dietary requirements.

Q: Will there be re-fillable water stations?
A: Yes, there will be plenty of places onsite to re-fill water bottles.

Q: What should I bring to the festival?
A: Refer to the “What to Bring” section on our website for details.

Q: What happens if it rains?
A: Come prepared, this is the UK after all! The event will go ahead with weather contingencies in place to ensure fun for all.

Q: Is parking available?
A: Yes, parking is pre-bookable at the venue, we charge £3.50 for 1 day parking onsite. Spaces on the day are limited and subject to availability.

Sports & Activities
Q: What sports and activities are available?
A: A variety of sports and activities led by local grassroots clubs.

Q: How do I register for activities?
A: Your pre-selected sports will be confirmed upon booking and re-confirmed to you upon check in at the registration desk.

Q: Can pre-booked sessions change?
A: Changes are unlikely, but unforeseen circumstances may require adjustments. You’ll be notified at registration if necessary.

Q: Are there additional activities on the day?
A: Yes, non-prebookable activities will be available to keep children entertained.

Q: Do I need to book for the roller disco, and how much does it cost? Can I book tickets for my older children and are adults allowed to skate?
A: Yes, the roller disco requires pre-booking. An additional fee of £5.00 applies. Please book it in the package section. Yes, the roller disco is available for everyone, subject to availability.

Safety
Q: What safety measures are in place?
A: Activities are run by DBS-checked professionals and risk assessments have been carried out.

Q: Are medical facilities available?
A: Yes, a first aid team will be present during the festival.

Charities

Q: What charities are you working with?
A: We are proud to support Young Lives vs Cancer and Finley's Touch, who will both be present at the festival and accepting donations at the door and during the festival!

Q: How are you giving back to PTAs?
A: £2.00 from every child ticket sold will be donated back to the school after the event. Make sure to enter the name of your school at the time of booking.

Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Only pre-approved assistance dogs are allowed. Contact us at office@pickandplay.uk in advance.
